This art piece has been months in the making. It started out as a pencil piece in my sketchbook earlier this year, and I decided to paint it digitally. My goal was to reduce contours and focus on filling in the color and shading. As you can see, a few things changed between the pencil sketch, including the removal of the vury cape and some modifications to Sabra's face. I agonized over the background for some time, with only general lighting to go by. My original intention was some sort of explosion, so I finally settled on an explosion of light. After working on it off and on for several months, I'm pretty happy to have this finished and to be able to share it with you all.
I intend to eventually print this on cards to use for promotional material, such as selling my books in person. It was also nice to get back into the digital art. My Wacom Bamboo tablet doesn't work with my new laptop, and so my brother let me borrow his Intuos. It's a nice tablet, but I've still been discouraged not using my little one much anymore.
Thanks for reading!
